AN ASSORTMENT OF HAND CARVED AND POLISHED  SOAPSTONE PIPES FOR THE COLLECTOR OR HERBAL SMOKING ENTHUSIAST

Welcome to my pipe shop, a division of   Wild Mountain Herb Company.

These unique, hand-crafted pipes are made from several types of imported soapstone.  Soapstone is actually a type of marble but very much softer having a hardness of  1 on the mohs scale.  Your fingernail is about 2 on the same hardness scale so that tells you that soapstone which is compressed talc is pretty soft stuff.  However, this same softness makes it a good medium for carving and polishing by hand without any power tools.

Soapstone has been carved, worked, crafted, whatever, since prehistoric times and fashioned into bowls, cups, lamps, pipe bowls, various other cooking and eating  implements besides beautiful statuettes, figurines, and other ornamental objects.  It sculpts easily and polishes to a very smooth and glossy finish,   hence  the name “soapstone” because it’s texture when polished has the slippery feeling of  soap.

These pipes and pipe parts are all carved and finished by hand and are each one-of-a-kind custom projects.  I can do custom carving for you if you require something other than what you see here in the shop.  Prices are negotiable, starting at a minimum of $20 unless otherwise marked.

Pieces are being added constantly and also are being purchased regularly and it’s a little difficult to update the catalog with every subtraction or addition so ask for an updated page if you don’t see something you like.

You will find that smoking with a soapstone pipe is a new experience.  The smoke is cool and clean and not harsh and bitter like some pipes.  Unless specified these pipes are all one piece so you won’t be losing any parts.   My pipes are also unique, every one is different, so when your friends see one they’ll be blown away.  Awesomely individual, having one of my pipes will set you apart from the rest of the crowd and everyone will want to try it out.  You will be the center of attention with your new, custom made soapstone pipe.  They smoke cool, are easy to clean and come in a variety of colors and sizes.  They are also available to collectors with the artist’s logo and date of purchase scribed into the pipe.
